You've been called out to identify the ghost haunting a house. Use a range of equipment to gather evidence to identify the ghost type, explore a set of hand-drawn pixel art rooms, and escape alive to win! Make sure to find a safe hiding place if the ghost starts to hunt!

This is a short replayable game made in GB Studio for #GitHubGameOff 2024 with original assets. See how high of a score you can get! The download includes a .gb ROM file and can be played with any Gameboy emulator- or flashed to a cartridge!

The GB Studio project is included in the GitHub documentation for modding- have fun!

The game will be receiving another update within the next 1-2 months with some additional features to celebrate placing 127th within the jam!

Common Confusions

Died seemingly randomly for no reason, with no warning? The ghost spawned on top of you. It spawns in doorways when you are not in its room, or in a set location within its room, usually near the center. Try to be mindful of these spaces and not spend too long in them!

Not sure what you should be doing? Check the computer in the truck for the guide! Generally, you want to take equipment into the house, use it in different rooms until you get evidence, and track which evidence you get in your journal to figure out what kind of ghost is haunting the place. Then get out. Make sure you circle the ghost in the journal so it counts.

Cheat Code

As part of one of the jam wild cards, a cheat code was added to the game from day 1. Using it speeds up the player, reveals the ghost type, and awards extra points.

Stand in the center of the summoning circle and press Select. You may need to wander a bit, but in a certain spot you will notice that your inventory does not open. Enter the following sequence:

Up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A

Press Start. If you entered the sequence correctly, a dialog box will inform you of the ghost type. If you make a mistake, you must start the sequence from the beginning. You can cancel this by pressing Select again.
